Graphic Workshop Professional 14 Revision 3

Graphic Workshop Professional 14 has been updated.

In this release:

• PNG Security: The Graphic Workshop PNG library has been updated to the latest release to address several potential security and performance issues. We'd like to take this opportunity to urge all users of Graphic Workshop to update to this release, 'coz the universe has a lot of really bad people in it.
  
  The current version of the PNG library is now available in the About → Credits window. It's currently 1.6.38.
  
  
• TIFF: Graphic Workshop's TIFF reader has been refined, enhanced and made cooler still. It will now open a much larger palette of TIFF documents... even the really, really weird ones.
  
  
• Archive Manager: An issue that could cause Graphic Workshop's Archive Manager to decide... incorrectly... that some .tar.gz archives were damaged has been addressed.
  
  
• Welcome Wizard: A number of problems that appeared on occasion in Graphic Workshop's Welcome Wizard have been nailed, and the wizard will now prompt you before it begins invoking its magic.
  
  
• Secure EXIF Metadata: Several problems that could cause the Secure EXIF item to be absent from Graphic Workshop's right-click menu under some configurations of Windows have been disabused of this behavior. Should you be unfamiliar with it, Secure EXIF will quickly and permanently remove the hidden metadata from JPG and PNG documents that could be used to determine exactly where you were when you took the pictures in question.
  
  
• More Secure EXIF Metadata: Graphic Workshop's Secure EXIF logic is now available as a batch function. Select as many JPG and PNG documents as you like and then select Secure EXIF from the Graphic Workshop Image menu to remove their location data.
  
  
• Presentaton Wizard UltraLight: Graphic Workshop's ancillary Presentation Wizard UltraLight application's runtime has been updated to use our shockingly fast low-level pixel management technology, speeding everything up.
  
  
• Thumbnail Alpha: Graphic Workshop's thumbnail manager hitherto ignored the transparency of some images when it was creating thumbnails. This has been fixed.
  
  
• Preview Alpha: Graphic Workshop's preview image logic was also omitting alpha transparency under some configurations of Windows, and this too is history.
  
  
• MP3: Under some configurations of Windows, Graphic Workshop's browsers could display two thumbnails for each MP3 document therein. It's now down the traditional one thumbnail for file.
  
  
• System Information: Under some configurations of Windows, Graphic Workshop's System Information window would omit your motherboard BIOS serial number. It's back.
  
  
• Get Information:The Graphic Workshop Get Information window didn't always respond correctly to a held-down Shift key to disable its preview image. Now it does.

If you have registered or upgraded a registration for Graphic Workshop Professional 12 on or after June 1, 2022, you're welcome to a no-cost upgrade to Graphic Workshop Professional 14.

Announcing Animation Workshop 14

Animation Workshop 14 has been released.

We've added new functionality to Animation Workshop, improved its performance and generally refined it to better get along with Windows 10 and 11. (We hasten to add that it still performs admirably under earlier builds of Windows, all the way back to Windows XP, if you're feeling retro.)

Among the new features and enhancements to Animation Workshop 14, you'll find...

• Speed: The low-level pixel logic for Animation Workshop has been re-written in optimized machine language. Since most of what Animation Workshop does involves managing pixels, it has become substantially quicker.
  
  JPEG Security: Animation Workshop's Turbo JPEG library has been updated to the latest release to address some security issues.
  
  We'd like to urge all users of Animation Workshop to update to this release as quickly as possible.
  
  WebP: The WebP library has been updated to improve its performance.
  
  Rendering Engine: Improves the performance of Animation Workshop's animation rendering engine.
  
  Colors: The color selection window that appears whenever Animation Workshop prompts you to select a color has been enhanced with an expanded palette of more contemporary colors — scroll to the bottom of the list to see them. In addition, you can now re-arrange the color list by dragging and dropping its items.
  
  
• Performance: Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues that software developers never really stop meddling with.
       
  
• Documentation: Updates the documentation.
