Graphic Workshop Professional 12 Revision 12

Versions of Graphic Workshop older than 12 have some serious security issues. We don't recommend using them to open graphics downloaded from the Internet.

This week, if you have registered Graphic Workshop 4 or better, we invite you to upgrade to safe, secure Graphic Workshop Professional 12 for half price.

Click on the red graphic to your right.

Graphic Workshop Professional 12 has been updated.

In this release:

  • TIFF: The TIFF reader in Graphic Workshop has been updated to address several seriously insidious bugs that could crash Graphic Workshop and potentially destabilize Windows. While TIFF files have descended to a somewhat infrequently-visited stratum of obscurity, they still turn up from time to time when no one's looking.

We urge all users of Graphic Workshop to update to this release immediately.

  • Browser: The Graphic Workshop Setup window now includes color buttons to set the text and background colors used to create browser thumbnails. By default, these objects draw their colors from Windows' themes, but it has come to our attention that some themes include decidedly questionable color choices.

If you've been finding the thumbnail text difficult to read, click on the Setup  button in Graphic Workshop's tool bar and select the Display tab.

  • Reset: If you encounter configuration issues with Graphic Workshop that defy reason and exhaust profanity, you can now return it to its "just installed" configuration state by holding down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and running it. You'll be prompted to confirm that you'd like to reset its configuration.

  • Backup: Graphic Workshop will now create two levels of backup of its configuration data. In the event that something bad happens, you can easily restore an earlier configuration. See the discussion of Graphic Workshop's INI file in the Configuration section of its manual.

  • Identify Mystery Files: The Identify window now includes a preview image so you can be sure that the file you're about to process is what you're expecting.

  • Window Previews: A growing number of Graphic Workshop's function windows include preview images. If you're running Graphic Workshop on a slow or very busy computer and you find the delay in generating these graphics to be noticeable, you can disable them in the Display tab of Setup. Uncheck the Show Window Preview Images option.

  • Montage: A memory leak in Graphic Workshop's Montage UltraLight application that could crash Montage and potentially destabilize Windows has been addressed.

  • Install: An issue with the 64-bit installer for Graphic Workshop that could cause it to install the application incorrectly under some configurations of Windows has been nailed.

If you haven't experienced Graphic Workshop Professional 12 as yet, please see its initial release announcement for a list of all its new and enhanced functionality.

Presentation Wizard 12 Revision 3

Presentation Wizard 12 has been updated.

In this release:

  • JPEG Security: Presentation Wizard's Turbo JPEG library has been updated to the latest releases to address some security and image quality issues.

We'd like to urge all users of Presentation Wizard to update to this release as quickly as possible.

    Keeping
Presentation Wizard's JPEG reader up to date and secure being a substantial bulwark against the barbarian hoards, you can now check the TurboJPEG library's version in Presentation Wizard's Credits window, right at the bottom of the scroll list. The current one is 2.1.3.

  • Gradient: The Gradient selection window that turns up in various places in Presentation Wizard has been updated to address a problem that prevented the center coordinates of a gradient from being set to negative values under some configurations of Windows.

  • Cursors: An issue that caused Presentation Wizard's documents to display incorrect flashing cursors under some configurations of Windows has been stomped.

  • PNG: The PNG reader in Presentation Wizard has been updated to correctly handle interlaced PNG graphics with slightly funky code structures... of which there appear to be a substantial number. This is not a security issue, but it will prevent the occasional PNG from looking like a sand painting.

The PNG reader has also experienced a noticeable speed improvement.

  • Runtime: The Presentation Wizard document runtime has been updated to address a number of performance issues.
