Graphic Workshop Professional 10
Revision 11
(additional notification)
|
Graphic Workshop Professional 11
has been updated to address a few additional issues.
In this release:
- Watermark:
A timing issue in the browser-based Watermark window
that could cause typing to appear very slowly in its
Edit field under some configurations of Windows has
been resolved.
- Neon
Filter: The Neon filter in Graphic Workshop's
View mode Filter window now handles mega-pixel
images more uniformly.
- Filter
Interface: A bug in the Filters window user
interface that could prevent the preview-image
scroll from working — or just lock the window
entirely, depending on your Windows configuration —
has been stomped.
From the previous release:
- JPEG Security: A potential
security issue in Graphic Workshop's JPEG library
interface has been identified and addressed.
- Oil
Painting Filter: A memory leak in the Oil
Painting filter that tended to crash Graphic
Workshop when large digital camera images were
transformed into motel art therein has been fixed.
- FIT
Format: A bug in the FIT file reader that
failed to free some system resources when FIT files
were read has been stomped.
- Find in
Browser: The Find in Browser window can now be
closed by clicking outside it.
- Thumbnail
Pre-cache: The Graphic Workshop thumbnail
pre-cache logic attempts to guess which thumbnails
you're going to screen over next, when Graphic
Workshop first boots up, and load them before
they're needed to allow for smoother scrolling. The
logic that drives the pre-cache has been enhanced to
make it more intuitive... or more likely to guess
correctly.
In addition, you can now adjust the delay time
between pre-cached thumbnail fetches to fine-tune
the pre-cache functionality to your computer. See
the discussion of Thumbnail Pre-caching in the
Reference document of Graphic Workshop's manual.
- Filter
Thumbnails: A resource issue that could crash
Graphic Workshop's Filter window if its
previous-iteration thumbnails were clicked on has
been addressed.
- Average:The
Average filter in Graphic Workshop's Filters window
hitherto could ignore the setting of its Wide
Aperture option under some configurations of
Windows. It now pays attention all the time.
- Filter
Preview: The Filter window preview was
disposed to refusing to update correctly under some
configurations of Windows. This has been nailed.
- Alpha
Filters: Some combinations of Filters in
Graphic Workshop's Filter window could cause final
graphics to be displayed entirely in shades of red
and black if alpha transparency was involved. This
has been fixed.
- e-Paint
UltraLight: The Filter interface for e-Paint
UltraLight has been updated to address a number of
crashes.
- Performance:
Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues
that software developers never really stop meddling
with.
- Documentation:
Updates the documentation.

Font Wrangler 11 Revision 2
|
Font Wrangler 11 has been updated.
In this release:
- WebP:
The WebP library has been updated to address a
number of image quality issues and to enhance its
security.
- JPEG Security: The JPEG
reader has been updated to the newest library
release to address several potential
vulnerabilities. This one's really essential.
We'd like to urge all users of Font Wrangler to
update to this release as quickly as possible.
- Speed:
Various user interface elements in Font Wrangler —
most notably the rightmost pane in its application
Window — were adversely affected by a recent change
to Windows 10, making them extremely slow. They're
back in overdrive.
- Edge
Support: Font Wrangler will now find the
Microsoft Edge web browser to display its
documentation.
- Image
Libraries: Updates the image libraries for
Font Wrangler to address a potential memory leak.
- User
Interface: The user interface windows of Font
Wrangler have been enhanced. A number of features of
the application are more intuitive and easier to
understand. Everything looks tight and leading-edge.
- Code
Review: We've completed a line-by-line review
of the underlying source code of Font Wrangler. This
has resulted in a smaller, faster application... and
we dispatched a number of stealthy bugs, memory
leaks and security issues.
- Administrator
Prompt: Depending on your Windows
configuration, Font Wrangler may be prevented from
installing and removing fonts when it's run as a
normal user. Running it as Administrator addresses
this issue, and the Font Wrangler documentation
explains how to make this happen. Font Wrangler now
includes a prompt window to alert you to this issue
when Font Wrangler thinks its installation functions
might be blocked.
- Performance:
Addresses a number of GDI and performance issues
that software developers never really stop meddling
with.
- Documentation:
Updates the documentation.

Alchemy Mindworks Web Site
|
The Alchemy Mindworks web
site has been updated to serve all its pages using the
secure HTTPS protocol, rather than HTTP.
HTTPS means that
everything you do at our web site will be secure, and
even really evil people won't be able to intercept it.
Admittedly, we're pretty sure that really evil people
have better things to do with their time.
Perhaps more to the point,
you won't see a scary "not secure" message in the
address field of your web browser when you visit our
site.
We hasten to add that
through some truly cunning and inspired HTML
configuration and coding, any access to our sites
through the old HTTP links will be immediately and
transparently redirected to our secure pages. You
don't have to change any bookmarks or links.
Also, it has come to our
attention that changes in recent updates to Google
Chrome have prevented it from downloading software
installers from our site — and quite a few others, as
we understand it. We've resolved this issue for the
Alchemy Mindworks downloadable software.
In the event that you
encounter any issues with the new site, please contact
us and tell us what happened.
